Overview of Our Self-Updating SCORM Files
Discover the ins & outs of our self-updating SCORM files and how they enhance learning experiences.
For Bigger Brains courses licensed through our licensing server, the course content may automatically update. This is most commonly used when a course receives a Handout after publication, or new translations are available, but it may also be used when course lessons need to be updated, added, or removed.
Each time a User opens a licensed SCORM course in their organization's Learning Management System (LMS), the SCORM file checks in with our licensing server. If updated content is available, the SCORM file will update itself with the most recent metadata. This ensures the User is always experiencing the most up-to-date version of the course.
In 2025 Bigger Brains started offering a Dispatch SCORM version of our courses. With Dispatch SCORM, not only can the course content be updated, but the course features (user interface, accreditations, etc.) can as well. Among other benefits, Dispatch SCORM files were designed to allow organizations to replace existing courses with a newer version with just a few clicks, using the same SCORM file already installed in your LMS.
