What happens when my licenses are used?

For Bigger Brains courses licensed through our licensing server, the course content may automatically update. This is most commonly used when a course is released before Knowledge Checks or certain translations are available, but may also be used course lessons are updated, added, or removed.

Each time a user opens the licensed SCORM course from their organization’s LMS, the SCORM file checks in with the licensing server at tripletech.biz. If updated content is available, the SCORM file will update itself with the most recent metadata so that the user will experience the updated course.

Effective in 2025 Bigger Brains now offers a special Dispatch SCORM version of our courses, in which not only the course content but the course features can be updated.  Among other benefits, this also allows organizations to replace existing courses with a newer version with just a few clicks, using the same SCORM file already installed in your LMS.

Note: The self-updating features can be disabled upon request.

What happens when my licenses are used?

Bigger Brains Licensing Server registers each unique user who accesses each course. Each course is tracked seperately, so that if a client has 100 user licenses for a library, each course in that library allows up to 100 unique users.

When 90% of the user licenses are in use, the course will highlight in yellow on the course download page, and if licenses run out it will highlight in red:

If the licenses are exhausted, or if the license term is expired, the next unique user who tries to access the course will receive a message saying the license is expired and to contact Bigger Brains support. All previous unique users can continue accessing the course normally.
